Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the practice of getting traffic to your website through organic search engine results. A website can be optimised to show up in search engines such as Google when a search query is made.
Without performing SEO, it will be extremely difficult for a site to rank in search engines. If your website isn’t ranking on Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. you will struggle to gain any organic traffic.

At a basic level, on-page SEO techniques include optimised content, optimised title tags, a well-written URL, a concise and compelling meta description, optimised headings and inclusion of a keyword on image alt text.
The rankability of a page isn’t only down to on-page optimisation. Off-page ranking signals also impact a webpages’ search engine visibility. The most important off-page SEO factor are links. Links from other websites to your webpage act as a recommendation and the more authoritative those websites are the more powerful the backlink is. Links from high authority websites will greatly boost a webpages position in the SERPs (search engine results page) as it passes link juice from its domain to yours.
